Photovoltaic panels represent a promising renewable energy utilization technology because solar energy remains readily available as the primary energy source. However, the challenge with using solar energy with photovoltaic panels is that high operating temperatures can reduce efficiency. This study examines photovoltaic cooling using fins arranged at the bottom of the panel with geometric shape configurations and fin arrangement models. In this study, we compare the geometric shapes of triangular and rectangular, as well as the arrangement of fins slopes of 0, 45°, and perforated 45°. The experimental method employed in this research utilized a solar simulator with 20 halogen lamps, each rated at 500 W, and a blower fan to simulate airflow. The research findings indicate that installing fins can reduce the temperature to 36.85 °C in the rectangular perforated 45°. Moreover, this configuration can also increase efficiency by up to 13.05%. Using ANOVA analysis, it was discovered that geometry contributes up to 65.3%, while the arrangement model has an effect of 33.45%, with a presentation error of 1.3%. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
