OTTV effect on the Greenship energy efficiency and conservation criteria of Y Apartment project, Indonesia

Abstract

High-rise building designs featuring extensive glass facades have the potential to increase heat transfer into interior spaces, thereby affecting the building's Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC). A key parameter in assessing the thermal performance of a façade is the Overall Thermal Transfer Value (OTTV). This study evaluates the OTTV of Y Apartment and its relevance to the EEC P2 prerequisite and EEC-1 criteria within the Greenship New Building v.1.2 assessment. A descriptive quantitative case study approach was employed, following the methodology outlined in SNI 03-6389-2020. Calculations were conducted for four facade orientations using technical parameters such as U-value, shading coefficient, window-to-wall ratio (WWR), and surface absorptance. The results show an average OTTV of 34.16 W/m2, which complies with the maximum threshold of 35 W/m2. These findings indicate that the facade design of the building is thermally efficient, supporting compliance with the EEC P2 prerequisite and earning credit under the EEC-1 criterion. The results also offer valuable insights for the design of energy-efficient buildings in tropical climates. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
