Abstract

The Multi-User Virtual Environment for Profession Certification Assessment (MUVE PCA) utilizing virtual reality (VR) technology is designed to address equipment limitations in vocational competency assessments. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and user experience of the MUVE PCA application in the vocational certification process, particularly in the fields of networking and computers. The study tested the MUVE PCA application using the Meta Oculus Quest 2 Head Mounted Device (HMD) and gathered participant feedback using the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ). The long version of the UEQ, employing a 7-point Likert scale, was analyzed using UEQ Analysis Tools version 12. A total of 49 vocational high school students participated, with 42 valid responses analyzed after excluding 7 inconsistent data points. The results show that MUVE PCA received positive scores in all UEQ categories. The Attractiveness aspect scored 1.88, the Pragmatic Quality aspect scored 1.6, and the Hedonistic Quality aspect scored 1.56, suggesting overall user acceptance of the application. Although 8% of respondents experienced discomfort while using the HMD device, the majority reported feeling comfortable with the application. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the MUVE PCA application provides a positive user experience and is a viable tool for use in classroom learning experiments. Despite minor discomfort from the HMD, the overall acceptance of the application indicates its potential for use in vocational education and certification assessments. © 2025 IEEE.
