This study aims to develop an eco-science-based book to improve disaster competence for students at elementary school. This product is important to be developed immediately for disaster management and environmental sustainability, especially in basic education. A development-research design following the ADDIE model - Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation - was employed. Data were gathered through questionnaires, observations, interviews, and document analysis, and were examined using both quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. Findings indicate that the textbook significantly improved students' disaster-related knowledge, as evidenced by pre- and post-test comparisons. Expert review results were likewise favourable: content specialists awarded the product a validity score of 93.75 %, while media specialists assigned a score of 98 %. In classroom trials, the book's practicality and attractiveness received mean ratings of 98.72 % and 100 %, respectively, from teachers and students. Overall, the eco-science disaster-mitigation textbook demonstrates strong validity, usability, and appeal, and effectively promotes disaster preparedness among elementary school learners. © 2025 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
