The fast pace of digitalization in education requires new forms of assessment that would develop higher-order thinking skills including analytical, which is a crucial competence of geography education. However, traditional tests may focus on knowledge recall and fail to represent problem-solving skills. his study developed and validated a digital-based instrument to measure Grade 10 students' analytical thinking within the Kurikulum Merdeka. Cognitive indicators based on the revised Bloom's Taxonomy of Anderson were used to develop the instrument. The process of development included content validation by six experts, reliability testing with 50 students, and item analysis. The results showed the scale had strong validity (Aiken's V = 0.84), good reliability (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.81) and reasonable item discrimination and difficulty. Analysis of distractors also provided evidence for the functionality of most test items. The electronic format facilitates interactive and scalable evaluation according to national curriculum objectives and worldwide trends in geographic education. This instrument fills a longstanding void in geography assessment by providing a deep theoretical and methodological instrument to assess analytical thinking, and by providing support for incorporating the assessment in digital environments. Further research should extend application to varied educational settings and integrate more process-oriented assessment forms to enhance the development of digital assessment in geography. © 2025 IEEE.
