The delay in road maintenance due to budget limitations can worsen the road damage, especially during the rainy season, which can ultimately affect the reduction of subgrade soil bearing capacity. Therefore, research is needed aimed at analyzing the impact of road damage that is not immediately repaired on the reduction of subgrade soil bearing capacity, as well as developing a model of the relationship between the level of road damage and the reduction of that bearing capacity. The method used to assess the condition of road damage is the road condition index, while to evaluate the bearing capacity of the subgrade, the California bearing ratio method is used, which is derived from tests using a dynamic cone penetrometer. To find the effect of road damage on the decrease in subgrade bearing capacity, an ANOVA method is applied. The analysis results show that road damage that is not immediately repaired during the rainy season leads to a decrease in subgrade. The model of the effect of subgrade bearing capacity x decrease on road damage, using regression method, yields the equation y = 31.139e‒0.569x with an R2 value of 0.96, indicating that the modeling results show a very strong relationship between the response variable y, so that increasing road damage will affect the decrease in subgrade bearing capacity. © The Author(s) 2025.
