Abstract

This chapter examines the teaching of micro-skills – pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary – in Indonesian high schools, bridging a gap in scholarship by contextualizing both traditional and innovative practices. Indonesia’s English Language Teaching (ELT) reflects global ESL/EFL trends but is uniquely shaped by socio-economic diversity, curricular demands, and limited resources. Drawing on structural, communicative, lexical, and genre-based approaches alongside postmodern perspectives, the chapter explores evolving instructional practices. © 2026 selection and editorial matter, Subhan Zein and Fuad Abdul Hamied; individual chapters, the contributors.
