Abstract

This study developed a valid and reliable an assessment instrument and rubric to be used as an effective alternative assessment in improving students' creative thinking skills in acid-base material. This study used ADDIE method to 33 students of class XI in science. Data collection techniques used content creative task, rubrics, and test items. The assessment instrument consisted of tasks and assessment rubrics designed based on combination of competency achievement indicators and creative thinking indicators. The tasks developed consisted of making creative leaflets. The results showed that the developed instrument was valid and reliable. Based on the average score in the implementation results, the electronic assessment instrument and rubrics developed could improve students' creative thinking skills in the acid-base material because the average score obtained from pre-test and post-test increased with a high category. This research can be a reference for researchers in conducting and determining the research themes to be taken, especially those related to the field of assessment in chemistry education. © School of Engineering, Taylor's University.
