Antibacterial agents based on Fe3O4/Ag nanocomposites with a diethylamine template were successfully synthesized using sonochemical and reduction routes with varying volumes of diethylamine: 0, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5, 6.0, and 7.5 ml. The crystallite size of Fe3O4 was in the range of 10.9 nm and 22.1 nm, and crystallite size of Ag nanoparticles remained stable of 14 nm. The FTIR results indicated the presence of Fe–O octahedral and Fe–O tetrahedral groups. The SEM images presented that the particle size of nanocomposites decreased as the volume of diethylamine increased, ranging from 74.6 nm to 57.7 nm. The saturation magnetization of nanocomposites tended to decrease. The antibacterial activity testing results using S. aureus, B. subtilis, and E. coli resulted inhibition zone diameters ranging from 11.4 mm to 20.8 mm, 10.1 mm to 12.7 mm, and 9.9 mm to 13.5 mm, respectively. Overall, the research results offering potential applications in the development of effective antibacterial agents. © 2025 Journal of Magnetics.
