This study aimed to examine the effect of peer-assessment on problem-based learning to improve students' science process skills on the topic of light waves. This research used a quasi-experimental design where invited year-11 students from a private high school in Malang. 38 students were invited using a cluster sampling technique. This study found that the peer-assessment on problem-based learning is more effective in improving students' science process skills. The study indicated that students learning in class applying PBL with peer-assessment showed higher improvement compared to their counterparts. It is recommended for further study to add variables such as students' critical thinking skills for further investigations, to create a new peer-assessment rubric, or to conduct peer-assessment training to help the students do the assessment. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
