One source of energy that is widely used is fuel oil derived from fossils. Energy derived from fossils, one of which is petroleum, is an environmentally unfriendly material. The increasing global issue of climate change has led to a lot of research on raw materials for making energy from sources other than fossil fuels. One such research area was the manufacture of biodiesel. Biodiesel is an alternative fuel that is environmentally friendly because it can be made from animal and vegetable oils. Because of that, an alternative of manufacturing new source of biodiesel was needed. Paying attention to the use of environmentally friendly fuels, biodiesel must also be made from materials that was easy to produce. Marchantia polymorpha liverwort was extracted using the Soxhlet method with three non-polar solvents (N-hexane, acetone, chloroform). The extracted liverworts oil from various types of solvents was separated using a simple distillation device. The extracted liverworts oil continued to be analyzed for yield, FFA content, and Iod number. The distilled oil extracted from Marchantia polymorpha using chloroform solvent has higher yield and FFA content than other solvent extraction results.
