This study aimed to develop and validate the Irrational Belief Scale for University Students (IBS-US) based on the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) framework. A research and development design was employed, covering needs analysis, item development, expert validation, and field testing. The process produced 15 items, formatted as an internet-based scale using Google Forms, Sheets, and Apps Script to enable automated scoring and personalized feedback. Validation involved two REBT experts and two educational technology specialists, while field testing was conducted on 150 undergraduate students at Universitas Negeri Malang, selected through convenience sampling. Data analysis included interrater agreement, Pearson correlation, and Cronbach's Alpha. The interrater agreement index showed high consistency: 1.00 for item relevance and 0.93 for linguistic appropriateness. Pearson analysis indicated all items were significantly correlated with the total score (p <.05). Reliability analysis yielded a Cronbach's Alpha of.814. These findings support the IBS-US as a valid, reliable, and practical tool for assessing irrational beliefs in university students via an internet-based platform. The scale reflects Ellis's four categories of irrational beliefs and is adapted to the Indonesian context, making it theoretically coherent, culturally relevant, and feasible for counseling and research in higher education. © 2025 IEEE.
