This study aims to produce cobalt ferrite nanomaterial through environmentally friendly synthesis using abundantly available local material of moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera), coat button leaves (Tridax procumbens L.), and saffron. The cobalt ferrite biosynthesis was carried out using self-combustion at 250-300oC temperature and sintering at 500oC for one hour. The phase, morphology, elemental analysis, functional groups, particle size, and magnetic properties were then identified. Additionally, the phase identification results suggest that the use of plant extract as solvent generates ferrite spinel cubic structure. The morphology also showed agglomeration and different grain sizes due to the capping agent of the plant extracts. The absorption band at 668-685 cm-1, which marks the CoFe2O4. The sample CoFe2O4 synthesis using saffron has the smallest particle size. Besides, the magnetic properties showed that saffron extract had the greatest potential for biosensor application as it contains the highest magnetic saturation and magnetic remenance. © The Korean Magnetics Society.
