Abstract

Effective research information systems must go beyond functionality and address user experience to ensure adoption and long-Term impact. This study evaluates UM REX, a digital platform developed by Universitas Negeri Malang, using the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) to assess usability, value, and institutional fit. A UEQ evaluation framework was applied, combining both quantitative and qualitative methods. A total of 32 academic users-including researchers, administrators, and system operators-participated in the study. The UEQ instrument measured dimensions such as efficiency, trust, clarity, and perceived value. Complementary data were gathered through interviews and system usage logs to contextualize UX findings. The platform scored highly in efficiency (M=2.1), dependability (M= 2.0), and transparency (M=1.9), indicating strong user trust and ease of interaction. Users highlighted the relevance of SDG-based publication mapping and real-Time citation tracking as highly valuable. Barriers included lack of onboarding support and inconsistent engagement across units. UM REX demonstrates that a user-centered RIMS can achieve strong UX performance when aligned with institutional needs. The use of UEQ provided structured insights for iterative improvement and reinforced the platform's role in supporting collaboration and SDG-Aligned research strategies. © 2025 IEEE.
