Abstract

Bird conservation in Indonesia is only concerned with conservation areas determined by the government, while birds also live outside conservation areas. Developing avitourism activities is one strategy to preserve birds outside of conservation areas. Wana Wisata Coban Rondo has a diversity of birds that have the potential to attract avitourism. This study aimed to explore bird community and the potential as objects of attraction for avitourism. Data collection was conducted in 3 days in July 2022. The method using the cruising method. The data observed were the number of species and individuals of each species. Analysis of the data used Shanon-Wienner diversity index, evenness index, richness index, frequency of species, relative abundance index, and descriptive analysis. The result showed 38 species of birds and 23 families with a high diversity level (H’) of 3.15, a high evenness level (E) of 0.87, and a high richness level (R) of 6.64. Based on the potential attractiveness of avitourism, 3 species of raptors were found, 7 species of endemic birds, 1 species of endangered birds, 6 species of chirping birds, and 10 species of birds with interesting morphology. As a result, Coban Rondo is very potential and included to the criteria for developing avitourism. © 2025 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
