Investigate the accuracy of student predictions in solving graphic problems

Abstract

The accuracy of predictions plays an important role in problem-solving. The accuracy of predictions is necessary for better decision-making, especially in graphic problems. This research aims to describe the accuracy of students in solving graphic problems. The accuracy of predictions is reviewed from the level of coordination between variables. This research uses a qualitative approach involving 28 students. The data analysis used is Content Analysis, which involves the identification, categorization, and interpretation of content from qualitative data. The results show that students who can make accurate predictions can not only coordinate the direction of change of one variable with changes in the other but coordinate the amount of change of one variable with changes in the other variable. These findings indicate that coordinating changes in the direction and amount of variables plays an important role in the accuracy of predictions. © 2025 Author(s).
