Strontium has many advantages and is quite abundant in seawater. A new magnetic nanocomposite Fe3O4/C/MnO2 was synthesized, characterized, and developed to remove Sr2+ from seawater. Nanocomposites were synthesized by coprecipitation method. Carbon as a precursor was used to coat Fe3O4/C/MnO2 nanocomposites. Carbon activation was performed by chemical activation method and NaOH as activator reagent, which produced the activated carbon with large surface area, adsorption capacity, mesoporous volume, and total pore volume. Characterization of Fe3O4 and Fe3O4/C/MnO2 was used by XRD and FT-IR instrumentations. The analysis of Sr2+ content was quantitatively analyzed using the % adsorption calculation. The Fe3O4/C/MnO2 revealed the adsorption percentage of 88.2% of Sr2+ in the seawater. © 2025 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
