The paper will clarify STEM education learning activity of the ecosystem for the case of orang utan natural habitat in Kalimantan Forest. The STEM education learning activity will be developed based on Sutaphan and Yuenyong [13] the context-based STEM education learning approach. The activity will start from identification of social issue of forest burning that cause the destruction of orang utan natural habitat in Kalimantan Forest, Indonesia. The issue will engage students to develop projects for solutions. Through the context-based STEM education learning approach, students could be enhanced to practice knowledge for designing prototypes of the ex-situ conservation place. That knowledge may include ecosystem for orang utan, financial (tourism resort), mathematics (the land area, the number population), social/technology (the design of ex situ conservation so that the oran utan comfortable with their new environment and can interact with human), and human (the role of human in saving orang utan). This paper may have implications for designing STEM education learning activities. © 2026 Author(s).
