Junior high school student comprehension based on application of contingent and non-contingent scaffolding in Malang

Abstract

This research is intended to investigate the application of contingent and non-contingent scaffolding on student comprehension level. This research was conducted in SMP Negeri 8 Malang with 26 students as the subjects eight graders. The instruments used in this research are initial test to gather the initial data source, then several subjects is chosen to be given the scaffolding. Within the scaffolding process, the dialogue will be recorded. Lastly, the evaluation test is given to analyze the data. The result shows by giving contingent scaffolding can improve students comprehensions, meanwhile the non-contingent scaffolding do not impact the students comprehension. © 2021 Author(s).
