Some indicators of population aging in Indonesia

Abstract

Nowadays the older population increase globally. Indonesia is a country with a very large population. Although until now the percentage of older population in Indonesia is still small compared to developed countries, there are signs that Indonesia will be experiencing the population aging. The purpose of the present paper is to highlight some indicators of population aging in Indonesia. Based on information from the Badan Pusat Statistik, this article discusses some of the indicators of the ageing of population in Indonesia. Among other indicators discussed is the number of older population, the number of young population, median age, aging index and old age dependency.
