The purpose of this study is to know the effect of thinking maps on discovery learning to students' physics problem-solving skills, especially on the material of rotational dynamics and equilibrium of the rigid body. This study used a posttest-only control group design. The data were collected by using observation sheet, instructional learning sheet, and test (Cronbach alpha = 0.82). Data analysis was done by t-test after a prerequisite test, ie normality and homogeneity test before The results showed that the students had the problem-solving skills in the experimental group higher than the control group (tcount> ttable; 2.92> 1.66 at 0.05 significance).The average posttest result of the experimental group was higher than the control group students (mean 66.4 > 5.2). Physics problem-solving skills that have learned the thinking maps on discovery learning higher than learners who have learned with discovery learning only. © 2018 Association for Computing Machinery.
